I got my 2nd HP Microserver today including the Remote Access Card. In the next days the memory upgrade of both boxes to 8GB each will arrive too. So that means my private Lab is nearly ready. I just miss the external iSCSI storage but this is currently no issue as I use a freenas on my ML115 G5 as shared storage.
Let the tests and trainings begin … :-)
Today I have ordered a Second HP Microserver N40L. Additionally 8GB for my old and the new Microserver and the Remote Access Card. I will create a Cluster with both Micro’s and my ML115 G5 using EVC. This will be enough power to run all my test as preparation for the VCP 5 exam.
Today I got the HP Microserver Remote Access Kit. This really a cool upgrade for the Microserver!
This is really helpfull for initial setup and later troubleshooting.
After an short weekend with a minimal of sleep … I’m done my Homelab is up and running. Furthermore I have created an template of an nested ESXi (virtualized ESXi). These nested ESXi are perfect for testing of Powershell scripts which I use to initial configure an new ESXi. Next steps which I have planned is to migrate my existing scripts to Powershell 2.0 modules and additionally extend the useability of it. So hopefully it will be possible to enter the IP into an GUI and select per SelectBox different configurations and than just hit configure. :-)
I have created some virtual machines on my HP Microserver and with 4 powered on VM’s he is running fine. The only problem is the current installed memory :-( I have only 4GB, but this will be changed asap. Furthermore I have ordered the HP Microserver Remote Kit … this is something like an small iLO adapter. Hopefully he will arrive tomorrow or latest Saturday. :-) I’m going to write an new Post regarding this adapter, after some time of testing.
Does anyone know a way to get an vSphere 5 license which contains more than 60 days just for my Homelab?
Today I got my HP Microserver :-)
